the things I’m celebrating and grateful for this Tuesday – a day that doesn’t
get nearly enough love. As the saying goes: every day may not be good but there
is something good in every day. Here, I’ve listed 10 of the good-est.
Travel plans. I've
now locked in all my accommodation for my New York trip, including a visit to
Niagara Falls. So. Freakin. Excited!
Float. Yesterday in my own daily card draw (different to the one I do for you guys) I got a card telling me to pamper myself. I wasn't pleased - I'm far too busy for that right now! - but then I decided it would probably be wise to take this advice. I did floatation therapy last night and now I feel a million times more relaxed. Ahhhh.
Rolled oats. It's
so weird how one little food swap can make such a difference to your day. I
used to eat Uncle Toby's Quick Oats sachets for breakfast because they were,
well, quick (funnily enough). But I was always hungry two hours later... which,
I found out, is because they're high GI. I've swapped them for regular rolled
oats and I can't believe how different my mornings are. I used to be reaching
for nuts, fruits, anything snack-y by 10.30am, but now I'm full until 12pm. Boom!
New lipsticks. This
doesn't happen very often, but every now and then an interview goes so well
that someone gets in touch to say thank you. Even rarer (especially when you're a freelancer),
sometimes they'll send you something. A woman who makes
natural lipsticks has sent me some complimentary product and they are so pretty.
What a wonderful gesture. I'm trying to move away from highly chemical beauty
products so this was very timely.
Solstice. Today is
the shortest day of the year which means we're gradually moving towards longer
days - and therefore, the warmer months. Huzzah!
Trying new things.
This week I'm trying sound meditation. It's an event where we'll be meditating
to the sound of a gong - it's believed the vibrations stir up the life force
within each of us. Sounds weird, I know, but the theory's good and I like
trying new things - life feels kind of routine if you don't, I've found. I've done a
group meditation with a didgeridoo before and it was really powerful, so I'm
looking forward to seeing how this goes.
Pink roses. Have you brought yourself roses lately? You should. You deserve them.
My long Witchery jacket. It is so freaking cold this week. My jacket is basically a giant blanket that I wrap around myself, and even though I've had it two years and there's a hole in the pocket that my iPod keeps falling into (note to self: must fix that), without this jacket I would probably lose the will to live.
certificate. I had to get a first aid certificate in order to join the practice where I'll be doing reiki and angel card readings. I have to admit I was a bit miffed about having to give up
my Sunday to do the course, but now I'm really pleased I did. It's great to
feel a bit more prepared for an emergency situation (fingers crossed I never
have to use it).
Feedback file. I've
been getting so much great feedback to my angel card readings that I've started
a file on my laptop, so I can refer back to it every time I feel discouraged or
aimless. According to my numerology (and, actually, every reading I've ever
had, when I think about it...) my purpose in this lifetime is to help people,
so having tangible proof of ways my readings or even just my blog posts have
done exactly that, in very small ways, is a really important resource to draw
on. I hope this will keep me focused (and proud).
